Künstlerische Biographien – Transkulturell

The chapters in Künstlerische Biographien – Transkulturell: Interdisziplinäres Autobiographisches Arbeiten in der Kunst are inspired by the project “Künstlerische Biographien – Transkulturell /Artistic Biographies – Transcultural-KÜBITRA,” which was based at the Hochschule für Musik und Theatre (hmt), Rostock from 2024-2026. The project was funded by the Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre. The contributions in the book explore different, yet critical, perspectives to the thematic foci of KÜBITRA namely; transdifference, feminism, intergenerational and transcultural relationships. In this regard, the contributors investigate the relationship between artistic practice and the biographies of three female university professors of art from Makerere University, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, and hmt Rostock through documentary film, film, autobiography, storytelling, visual art, performance and theatre. The chapters importantly locate art and documentary film as tools of pedagogy in education.  Ultimately, the chapters are innovative in the sense that performance and visual art in education are crucial to the entire KÜBITRA-project.
